Caving isn’t always such a bad thing….

March 3rd, 2012

So I’ve heard for months and months how awesome MAC brush cleaner is, but of course, my eyes looked at the price. Could it be worth 13 bucks? Well, the answer is: YES!!!

I’ve used things like shampoo and makeup removal face cleaner on my brushes, which I finally learned are things you shouldn’t ever use to clean your makeup brushes. Besides that, my brushes never got completely clean. Armed with that information, I finally caved and picked up a bottle of brush cleaner at my local MAC counter.

And wow, it is worth every penny! Within seconds of applying the cleaner, my brushes looked like they did when I first bought them. The makeup that had been caked on them washed out immediately and the cleaner rinsed out easily.

This is definitely one case where I’m glad I caved because I am incredibly thrilled with my freshly cleaned brushes. Sometimes it’s okay to give into makeup peer pressure, you may just find a new product to love!

I had the worst Coca-Cola of my life today…

August 19th, 2010

Flying home from Connecticut tonight I decided to have a Coke…wow, what a mistake.

Flying home from Germany last week I decided to have a Coke…wow, that stuff was amazing!

So, what’s the difference between the two Cokes I had? The second ingredient! My American Coca-Cola was laced with high fructose corn syrup…my European one was not…it had actual SUGAR in it. I know, GASP!

The difference in flavors is amazing and I found the Cokes I had overseas to be much more satisfying than the junk we get here in the US. I’d much rather down a Euro Coke and feel like I had something sweet and yummy than down a US Coke and still feel thirsty…ah, the things we miss out on!

Netflix and Me!!

July 13th, 2010

Well, maybe you’re wondering how my relationship with Netflix is going since I mentioned joining way back in January…or maybe you haven’t. Either way, here’s an update!

I am fully in LOVE with Netflix. Since the live streaming was updated for the Nintendo Wii I’ve been in movie/TV heaven watching everything from Dr. Who to really cheesy awesome foreign horror flicks.

I really haven’t had any issues with streaming, though I can see if you have a slow Internet connection it could be a problem. I did have one incident where I was DL’ing an update and it seemed to interfere with Netflix, because when I paused it, all was well. Since I’m not a heavy downloader, this isn’t an issue.

As far as quality…well, I don’t have a fancy, new uber HD TV, so picture quality isn’t all that bad. Sometimes on darker scenes though, I can see the little squares that you sometimes see when watching some vids online, but I noticed that seems to depend on the age of the movie too. Newer stuff seems a better quality, esp BBC shows. But, the overall quality is much better than my digital cable box, which has issues everyday. And yes, it’s what you’re thinking…I don’t have cable…and I’m quite happy! ;)

So, six months in and we’re still going strong. As long as Netflix continues to keep things fresh and new, I’ll continue to be a happy, commited camper.

Here’s to cheesy B-horror flicks, great BBC shows, the occasional fun documentary, and many more months of movie watching bliss! :)

China Glaze NOTD

July 12th, 2010

Just some nail spam.

Left Hand

Here’s what I used:

  • China Glaze Entourage (green)
  • China Glaze Towel Boy Toy (blue)
  • Art Club Solid Silver

I was a little frustrated with the CG Entourage, it was a little thin and left some VNL (visible nail line) even after two coats. But, Towel Boy Toyis a fab, gorgeous bright blue with a little shimmer. Will definitely be grabbing this bottle for a full mani in the future. Also, the AC Solid Silver is like a glitter, so it takes some patience to get off. Just an FYI ;)

Aaaahhhh…I love nail polish!! :)

Right Hand

I had to make sure to cut my thumb out of this picture. It was pretty purple from getting hit with a Nerf bat while volunteering in a children’s area for the Fourth of July. Needless to say, I’ve learned my lesson. ALWAYS assume children are out to harm you! LOL!

Why adults never have “time” to read. ;)

July 6th, 2010

Just a few comments on a segment that I saw on the morning news today.

I’m sitting there, sipping my coffee, trying not to look at the clock (I don’t wanna go to work!), when I flip to the one news channel in the middle of a segment on book recommendations. I settle in thinking this could be interesting as the ydive into two tween books about dragons, witches, magic, and heroes.

Okay, great! I don’t mind some of the tween fiction, so I continue watching.

Finally, at the very end, they hold up the single book that are recommending for adults. I could only blink as the disbelief fluttered across my face. They had to be kidding….they couldn’t be recommending that book…after the fun, adventurous books for kids. So, you ask, what book was the morning new recommending adults to read?

A book about lawn care in Ohio

Yes, ladies and gentlemen, a book about grass that grows in yards across the state of Ohio.

While, yes, I know there are people out there who were probably excited by it, I was utterly horrified. The kids get adventure and I get a book about a lawn I don’t even have.

Wow, if that’s what adults are expected to read, I officially declare myself too busy!

Just a quick ramble about something I found amusing on the news at 6:45am! :)

Green Lizard Monsters!!!!!

Happy New….Netflix?

January 31st, 2010

It’s the new year and the commercials for weight loss and fitness systems are rampant on television. The stores are filled with everything imaginable to organize your home and the “healthy” snacks are displayed at the end of every aisle.

With the message to get out, move, organize, and eat better at every corner, I made my decision for the new year. I joined Netflix. Yes, I made the commitment to sit on my couch and watch countless movies for a single price.

So, now you’re wondering how my new Netflix commitment has been going. I have to say, it’s been going great! The turn around time for the movies has been the thing that has surprised the most. I put movies in the mail Monday morning and I have new ones by Wednesday. So far, I’m thrilled with my movie membership. Here’s to a continued year of movie enjoyment!

Got a Sweet Tooth?

September 29th, 2009

If you haven’t guessed by the title, we’re talking about our sweet tooths…more importantly we are talking about a sweet little “mint” from Ice Breakers.  The Ice Breakers Iced Tea candies in Peach and Raspberry are a great little pop of sweet when I need a little something to keep me going.  I am not sure if I would call these mints exactly, because usually when I think of mint I think of breath freshening, and I don’t think I would use these to freshen my breath. But, they do leave a little tingle to the tongue.

I actually really like the entire Ice Breakers family of mints. The sour family is just as good for sour tooth as the iced tea family is for the sweet tooth. These run under two bucks and there are about fifty pieces in each one. Not bad if I say so myself!

Ahhh…icy sweetness…

NOTD – Black and White

September 28th, 2009

Hello! Back from an extended break, in other words, real life got in the way. But, for today, I’m back with a nail of the day photo.

Nail polish has kinda taken over and I find myself thinking of what color to paint them next and what design I can put all over them. Well, here is one of my latest creations.

I used Sally Hansen’s Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear in White On and Black Out for the base and Stripe Rite in black and white for the design. The Stripe Rites are from Sally Beauty Supply.
